I'm still trying to figure out what the paint code is for the late 40's ferguson tractors...the ones that looked just like the Ford N-series tractors. I'm going to use that Dark gray on my Ford 2N tractor. The problem is all the paint codes list duplicate colors for gray on the Ferguson sites and don't say whether or not it's the old dark gray or the newer light, metallic metal flake gray. Also, I would like this to be a single stage paint, as in no clear coat, just a base with hardener like Napa Full-thane.

Jeb:
I have found that "ferguson gray" in the paint shops is the dark gray that the Ferguson 20's and 30's were. It may be darker than the 2N's The metallic that Ferguson used early was "Flint gray" (I have it on my MF 50.) Ford gray is much lighter and has a tan hint.

Thanks, i wanted to be sure. The 9N and 2N used a very dark gray almost identical to the fergie gray so i can use it as a backup if I have to. It wasn't until the 8N that ford switched to the light tan gray on the sheet metal which happens to be about the same color as bird poop (hint hint)..I can just see someone bringing in a sample of bird droppings to NAPA and asking "Can you match this up for me?" LOL!
