Hello, Fixing to start restoring a 1953 Super H. The tractor was bought new by my great grandfather and handed down to me. 8-10 years ago the engine was rebuilt but the tractor has set outside with nothing covering the exhaust, not sure if its locked up now are not. Just wanting tips on where to start. All the metal is on the tractor and straight, however its in need of a paint job. I really hope to get this tractor fixed up because of the sentimental value it has to me. Any advise will be greatly appreiciated. Thanks for your time to read my plea for help. Jimmy

You have got to save that tractor and breathe new life into it. If it sat for that long without being covered, I would bet the engine is stuck tight. Do not try to get it loose by pulling it, you will only cause even more damage. Instead, get the tractor inside where it is nice and dry, and then start tearing it down. Drain the oil, remove the oil pan, and remove the cylinder head. Now you can see exactly what you need to do. If the engine is indeed stuck, the next thing will be to clean out as much of the crud as possible from the cylinders, and then pour in some kind of penetrating oil, one brand will work as well as another, so its up to you what brand you use. The penetrating oil may or may not work, I have never had any sucess with any of it, but it might work, and is a good place to start. There is alot more I could tell you, but this will keep you busy for quite a while. When you are ready to ask more questions, go to the Farmall discussion board, lots of very knowledgeable people on that board.
