The headlights and taillight on my 51 Farmall Cub are the non-sealed beam type, and use a separate bulb, reflector, and lens. Upon disassembly to paint the housings, I found the metal reflectors' surfaces have deteriorated - they're not really rusty, but they aren't as shiny and reflective as they once were. They look like there was once a thin glass layer that has crystalyzed.

Is there any way to restore the surface? I know I can buy replacements from OEM for $17.

What I done on mine was bead blast them, then painted them with chrome alum. Don't know how it will last, but for now they are bright.
