Okay Folks, I know this is not the proper subject matter for board, but thought maybe someone may have an idea or has experienced this. I am driving a 1992 Chevy Corsica. On Thursday I got in it to go to work and NOTHING. I have been trying to get this thing sorted out ever since. When you turn the key to the start position on the ignition switch, nothing happens. I have managed to rule out the battery, starter, neutral kill switch, and ignition switch. The fuzes (all the ones that I have found) are good. The fuzible links appear to be okay. Any and all assistance that some one may be willing to offer will be most appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

Thanks for the HELP in reply to CUSADER, 08-16-2004 08:57:22
Hello Folks,
Thanks for all the assistance and advice with the problems with the car. After exhausting all efforts, I went back to the starter (it had been tested more than once) after it wouldn't do anything when jumping the terminals I made me some jumper wires and took the car electrical system out of the equation. Still wouldn't work...removed the starter from the car and it didn't work when jumping it from the battery. Put on the other car's battery and wouldn't work. This is with both my homemade jumper wires and a set of heavy duty booster cables. Took the starter to the parts store (different store but same auto parts chain) and it wouldn't work. They exchanged the starter, because it has a "lifetime" warranty and I took it home and put it on the car. BINGO!!!!! ! It works now. Now I am running late to get to work so I will have to finish buttoning up everything tomorrow. I really do appreciate all the inputs, I'm not the best mechanic in the world and wouldn't lie to someone by telling them that. But this was really getting to be trying on the nerves, especially since I took apart or troubleshot just about everything that it could possibly be on the car.

Again, Thanks for the assistance,
Jim

Does anything happen with the key in the "on" position, such as the gauges and idiot lites work? In other words, does everythign seem to work, but there is no cranking. When you say you ruled out the starter did you get it to crank by jumping from the battery to the solenoid? Just trying to get some info to see what direction to guide you in. If my car didn't turn over, I would just get out and put the crank in the hold in the bottom of the radiator and give it a yank...

I've had the starter checked out at the parts store where it was bought (it has a "lifetime" warranty) last Christmas. All the lights on the dash/instrument panel come on...only thing different is that it won't crank. I've checked every fuze and fuzible link that I can find and all looks as it is supposed to. Twice on Saturday I got it to start up, but can not figure out what wire or etc. that I managed to do to make it start. The battery spins it over like always and there is no dragging. Any ideas that you may have will be greatly appreciated and will be attempted.

Jim
