Hi, I just sandblasted my gastank on my old JD 60. It was somewhat pitted, but after blasting I noticed a very very small pin hole on the top side of the gas tank. JB weld says it can be used on gas tanks. With this small hole being on the top side. I am betting that the JB weld will work just fine. However I was wondering if anyone else had used it for gas tank repair and what experience they had.

JB Weld will plug the hole but I would recommend putting tank sealer inside the tank anytime you have one off. You can actually put tape over holes up to about 1/8", seal the inside, and they won't leak. Sure has saved me. Plus the tank will no longer rust as it will be epoxy coated on the inside. Go visit parts houses till you find one with gas tank sealer and follow the directions. You will be money ahead and added peace of mind.

Yes, JB weld works very well for repairing holes in gas tanks, just be sure you allow for the recommended curing time before putting gas in the tank.

I haven't used J-B on a gas tank, but I have used the 2 part epoxy that is sold for gas tank repair with good results. It's cheap and any auto/hardware place should have it.

JB weld works great even on the bottom of a full gas tank. The trick is to clean a 1 inch spot around the leak, then plug the hole with a tiny glob of JB.This tiny glob of JB will stop the gas flow, and when the area around the leak dry's,you press on a 1 inch glob of JB for a permanent fix. This is with the thick paste type JB weld. The only problem that I have found is that a hard hit from a gravel stone at exactly the right place will pop the JB weld off the bottom of a car/pickup gas tank.
