If the hood emblem on the front of your tractor says golden jubalee you have a 1953 (the first year of the jubalee and the overhead valve engine)but i don"t think the 53 had a high low trans in it, just a straight 4 speed. Hope this helps.

Try the link, it'll answer most of your questions.

You have to be careful with the serial number. Mine isn't on the flat spot by the starter, it's kinda around it. It's also hand-stamped so don't sand the paint off or you'll sand part of the number off. Give ya one guess how I know that.

I ain't too good at posting links so do a google search for"The vintage ford tractor resource" and get he IT FO-10 manual and the majority of your questions will be answered. No there is no adjustment on the Sherman HI-normal-low transmission. No the 8 volt will not hurt your tractor but you will have to insure that the voltage regulator is putting out enough (about 9.5) volts to keep the 8 volt charged. If there is not enough charging voltage yo will be better off with the 6 volt. If you have a tractor with ford script on the fenders and each side of the hood along with a big cyclopes enblem on the front of the hood and a very large nut in the center of the rear wheels then you have a 53/54 jubilee/naa. Serial no is located on the left side on a flat spot near the starter which is very often very hard to find and make out. Hope this helps you out.
