I wondering if anybody out there has suggestions or experience servicing a "non-servicable" slip clutch on a JD 34 chooper or similar? Bought the chopper used and the slip clutch for the 1 row head slips too easily. The machine seems to be in good/excellent shape otherwise. We used a JD25 integral for chopping the last 15 years before buying the 34 and it did not have a slip clutch.

JH,
Seeing that no one has responded to your question, I'll tell you about my experience with a 38 forage harvestor. Now I don't know if the slip clutch is similar on a 34 & 38 or not. Early on the slip clutch would slip and it seemed like once you had slipped it a time or two it was shot, so we replaced the clutch disk(s) many times over the years, finally got tired of buying new ones and decided to try putting in two disks where there had orginally only been one (using used disks, as they were worn a little thinner). Since we have done this we have very little problem with slippage. Still using the old 1969 JD 38 to chop a few acres of corn silage each year. Good Luck.
