besides heat and a bfh what is a good way to remove old bearings from a shaft it is just the outer piece I would like it to just break but it won"t

If you can attack it with a die grinder or cutoff tool, cut through the bulk of the race but not the shaft in one or two places and it will break a lot easier.

If its a outer bearing shell stuck in a sleve/shaft. apply a bead of weld all along the inside of the bearing shell. It will shrnk a few thousandths. I used to do this on acme milling machines when berings would go. Knock out the berring guts and then add the weld bead. They would just fall out where before no amount of banging or creative di-grinding would work.
