All you need is a one wire 12V alternator from Auto Zone, a little mounting ingenuity, and a wiring diagram from Bob M. Search the archives here for Bob M. or 12v wiring, etc. Two things I can think of to keep in mind are 1) alternators have a "turn on" speed so if you crank up and the "gen" light stays on, rev up the engine and charging will start, after which you can go back to idle. 2) your starter will spin at a million rpm on 12V so dont keep it engaged too long and let it cool off for a while if engine doesn't start right away.

Battery ignition, or magneto ignition?

Add a 12V coil & ballast to the list I posted. It's a simple thing to do once you see Bob M.'s wiring diagram. My Super A was already converted when I got it but it was in a real mess. I overhauled it, replaced all the wires and even color coded everything, red= charging, green=ignition, blue=lights.

Here's Bob M's closest diagram for your application.

That was a great diagram. Does he have a diagram for a 12 volt conversion on a Farmall Super C?
