This is my first resto so I have much to learn.
Re: rear wheels, Rims were very bad. getting new shells but need to resto centers and have them welded into new shells. I had the centers sandblasted at the engine shop ($20). They used the automatic machine (uses no compressed air but has 2 impellers to throw sand) that is used to clean up engine blocks/heads etc. It is a 2 step process... bake in oven then put in sand blast machine which throws sand or glass beads at what ever is in machine. They came out very well but some areas are badly pitted. I have in mind to resto these areas w/ JB Weld. Should I apply phosphoric acid wash before applying the JB? Any other comment/advise is also welcomed.

You can use a flexible body filler to fill the pits or you can use a product called Slick Sand.

Slick Sand is mixed much like body filler using a liquid hardener and is sprayed on bare metal or over any primer except a self-etching primer. It sands well and finishes nice.
