I looked up your mag in the Fairbanks manual. Its on a Continental, clockwise rotation. You want to replace the rotor drive gear or the gear that is on the armature.email answer. Earl

I've gotten more info but not all I need. There are two gears inside the mag- a small steel gear that goes to the armiture and a larger fiberglass gear that goes to the rotor. The steel gear has a small marking on one gear that is suppose to line up with a marking on the fiberglass gear. There are two marking- an A and a C on the fiberglass gear. These markings are two cogs apart. Do I line up the marking on the steel gear with the A or the C. I was told to put it on the A but when I took another mag apart it was on the C. What is the purpose of having two markings on the fiberglass gear? Are there certain times when you would use the A and the C? What do those letter stand for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob is correct you determine the mag rotation by looking at the impulse drive. Earl

Use the "C" mark for a "clockwise" rotation mag, and the "A" mark for an "Anti-clockwise" mag.

Apparently, years ago "Anti-clockwise" was more P.C. than "Counter-clockwise"!

I believe rotation is determined when you are facing the impulse drive, but I'm sure someone will correct me if that's wrong!
