I just designed and fabricated a front end grill guard for my MF 245. I finished bolting it on to the front end. It is still raw steel and want to know what is the toughest finish I can apply to keep it from rusting.

I am thinking of applying a "pick up truck spray on bed liner" type of material. Any thoughts or other ideas or suggestions?

The tougest paint I have used is POR15 advertised in Hemmings motor news.It is made to be painted directly onto rust. When dry it gets hard as a rock.It may not be exactly what you need for your project but to find out you can order a small sample kit.You might want to have it powder coated to resist chipping from stones.

POR 15 is a wonderful product. You will need to top coat it because UV light affects its life. I agree that the kit might just be the right amount for your need.
