Hi All,

Have a (what I think is a 1953) FarmAll Super C 200. It ran for a while, tried to get it into gear. Forzen, one month later, a new clutch and release bearing and back together, tried to get it to start. Nothing. Got my 91 year old farmer dad to help. After frying the sylnoid and starter. Got new sylnoid and starter. No go still. Did not know about not marking the distribitor"s postion and something call TDC on number one cylnder. Ok, took of the head to see pistons, scrapped off all carbon off valves area of head (soaked in kerosene for two days), put head back on, after marking TDC for #1 on flywheel using a laser level and silver marker. Then put the valve cover on, hooked everything back up. Now the carberator leaks from every possible place I can see. My dad jeri-rigged the distribitor, making big issue of this TDC on #1. Ok I got that. (I thought). Now there is no firing at all of any cylinders. My question is this. How do I find my engine Type number for my tratcor. I plan on changing the distribitor to electronic ignition and to get a rebuilt carborator also. But how does one find the engine type number? And How do I figure out which position the valves are in. Now my dad is talking about the valves being 180 degrees out (# 4 cylinder"s valve is in the needed position that #1 cylinder should be in. How do I find this out.

Sincerely,

Charley

Farmall C's were produced from 1948-1951 and have C113 engines in them (113 cu inches). Super C's were produced from 1951-1954 and have basically the same engine, a C123, whiich has a larger bore, giving 123 cu in. Farmall 200's were produced from 1954-1956 and have the same engine as the Super C.

Your father is right it is 180 off and pappy is right also now with no#1 at top dead center you should be able to turn your distributer til you get a spark with out turning the engine over once you do that snug down set screws and and you should be able to get her to fire up. engine no# are casted in block . best of luck !

TDC on number one is when the piston is exactly at the top and both valves are closed. You say number four is in this configuration, just turn the engine one full revolution and number one will be in proper position.
