I have a MF-180 that has a rebuilt zenith carb and a new vaporizer. The tractor runs off of LPG and the lpg line coming out of the vaporizer going to the heat exchanger frosts up. I have checked the pressure coming out of the vaporizer and it is 12psi. The tractor starts with the choke engaged but as soon as it gets running the tractor acts like it runs out of fuel. The lpg line is frosted up. I have tried using a touch of ether after the tractor starts and when it starts to die I have sprayed a little of the ether and it doesnt seem to make much difference. I need some help.

Usually when this happened on our lp fueld forklifts, the coolant wasn't circulating to or through the vaporizer. Some times the rust in the cooling system will clog passageways in the converter itself and you have to disassemble and clean them out. Gene Davis

Do you have a Propane gas dealer nearby? They run their trucks off the gas and I'd bet they could help you a lot..... especially if you have a mom & pop shop that has been in business for 20 years. The big places may not know too much as they usually keep new trucks.

Frosting is a gas law thing. When gas (some) expands, it absorbs heat. That is what makes your air conditioner work....high pressure liquid is released by the capillary tube or expansion valve. As the liquid turns into low pressure vapor it sucks up the heat (in the evaporator coil). Blow air thru the coil and you have cold air. If you restrict the air, you get more cooling than you want and the tubes get too cold, hence frost up.

So applying that to your LP situation, I'd say you are delivering fuel too fast or you have a restriction in the line that is causing the gas to be released and thus frosting up. Go up wind (toward the tank) and look for a restriction. Or the diaphragm in the regulator may be messing up, or the 12psig may be too much causing too much gas to flow. Since the gas in the tank is like 250psig in summer and a lot less in winter, there can be a big diffential. May not be noticable in summer as the machine and environment are hot, but in winter, especially when things are just above (or below) freezing, it's real easy to frost up with gas expansion.

May need to get a manual for the mfgr's ideas.

As I recall my old LP JD had a water line from the tractor's water system to keep the regulator "warm". Maybe your cooling (heating) line is stopped up.

HTH.
