JD B Question

Hi guys & gals- I'm going to pick up a couple of B's. I think one's a '50 and the other is a '36. Neither one runs, however the '50 is capable of rolling on it's own wheels. The older one is a basket case and I'm trying to figure out how to unload it without a loader or another tractor. I'm thinking of making some stands with wheels that will bolt to the studs (that the fenders normally bolt to) on the rear axle housing . I would also have to make a stand for the front end.
Has anyone out there done anything similiar? Also if someone has a tape measure and B handy can you give me the measurement from center to center of each stud? Should be around 4" to 6" I would guess. Thanks!

One more question. How do you want them measured, center to center or what?

Hi Matt, This is the back of my 36B. Are you refering to the bolt holes I have circled in the pic or the ones closer to the center of the tractor? If none of those please point out which ones and I will measure them for you.

36B- Thanks for the offer! If it wouldn't be too much trouble while you've got the tape out would you mind grabbing these measurements?

Almost forgot- What's the diameter of those studs? They look like 1/2" but I can't tell for sure. Thanks again.

Hi again, All measurements are to the center of holes. Hope this helps, If you need more info please ask and I will do what I can. I new you were going to ask what size they were (lol) I did not check with a bolt, but I am sure they are 1/2 in . If you need to know for sure I can drive out there in a day or two and check ( it is stored at a friends place about 8 miles away).

36B- This is great info. Thanks very much for your help. Don't worry about the stud dia. I'm going to assume it's 1/2", as I'm almost sure it is.
I'll post a picture of what I end up doing to make the tractor "trolly".

Matt

Well I got the B's home. Had to make 2 trips with and the trailer I borrowed was too narrow so one wheel ended up riding on the side rail. I ended up placing the '36 wheels on pallets and stapping the palletts to the wheels so the would stay in place. The pallets slid off the trailer nicely, even the pallet riding the rail.

Now for the new problem. I knew the '50 needed the seal behind the clutch replaced. When when we started loading it antifreeze began running out behind the clutch. How could coolant be getting here??

I am not sure how coolant got there, but the engine case must be full of it. You may want to start a new topic on the Deere page. Did the measurements I gave ya work OK?
