I was looking into buying an engine rebuild kit for my case vac but i have found several with different models and bores. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what model was put on a 1952 case vac and if anyone has a good place to purchase a rebuild kit for this engine.

Adam, The normal engine for the '52 VAC is 124 cid. Look below the dipstick, should be casting nr VT328 for the block. Casting nr for the head is on top between the valve cover and the exh manifold, gas head is VT148, less likely VT159, The head for the 300 series G148 cid casting nr 1148 bolts up and is compatible so if it has been changed out that is possible.

The engine serial nr is stamped above the starter, '52 s/n will likely have the first 2 digits of 72 or 73, followed by a letter and then 5 digits. This nr is sometimes helpfull in identifying parts.

If you are going to order an overhaul kit, it is a good idea to check the crank journals first. The crank may have been ground for undersize liners already in an old engine like that.

You can buy sleeve kits or a complete out of frame overhaul kit from Case or from several aftermarket sites on the web.

Click on the link, this is just an example. Prices can vary $100 or so, shipping can be a factor also.
