Deere, I assume??? If there is an oil leak at the wheel seal, that indicates a seal way inboard, next to the INNER bearing is leaking. Tranny oil should never get to the outer bearing, which runs in grease, and has a zerk on it. Usually, when the seal leaks it is because the bearings have worn, or worn on the axle, and the axle is moving around in the bearings, and took the seal out. You need to safely support the tractor, remove the rear wheel(s) and cast iron center and weights, down to the bare axle. The SG body needs to be supported at that side. Then, with the axle/planetary assembly supported by a hoist of adequate capacity, you unbolt the planetary housing from the tractor. When it is removed, there is one bolt inside the planetary (retained with a triangular keeper) that must be removed, and then the axle and planetary can be separated, and removed from the housing. You can then check out the bearings and replace the seals. Often, the outboard bearing has turned on the axle. If needed, there is an undersized bearing cone available, if this repair has not been done before, and the wear is not too great. After all is checked out, and any needed parts and seals are replaced, the axle is istalled in the housing, the planet carrier is installed, and then there is a procedure to set the preload on the axle bearings with shims.
