I recently got a Bolens Husky 1556 hydrostatic drive, it was a lightly used machine that was always stored inside; and after replacement of the starter it started and ran GREAT, tilled with ample power.I used it about 3 weeks ago and it was tilling along fine, it stalled and wouldn"t restart, I pulled the spark-plug after trying to crank it for a bit...
The sparkplug had a bit of Carbon birdging the gap.. I removed that replaced the sparkplug.. but no spark.. So I pulled it apart and the coil/solid state ignition has a crack in the sealed plastic back.. it looks like it is bad.. AND I wasn"t getting ANY spark.. So I call and order a new one.. ouch $105 oh well.. it"ll be here tuesday.. wednesday I call.. oh not here.. next tuesday it"ll be here.. So yesterday I call and it"s NLA, tecumseh doesn"t make the part anymore.. I tried a few places online but the same response.. So what can I do here, can I put a car coil on and fit a hall sensor for the pickup? I noticed that the flywheel has 2 pins on it, so I imagine that it does more than just fire at TDC... Does anyone have any more knowledge of this or know where i could get the part? Thanks in advance for your responses...
