bought this tractor 2weeks ago. man said it runs got it home and put new coil (12 volt) on after turning it over about 20 to 30 times, lost fire. took the coil back off and found the little spring on bottom burnt off, tried another new coil, same results. the treactor almost started the last time before i lost fire the 2nd time. why does it burn the spring off of the coil. this is my first tractor ever but she is in very decent shape. please help

The cheapy (but costly to buy) imported 12 Volt coils tend to draw too much primary current.

Dell, over on the "N" board, has come up with a solution to limit the primary current.

See post below.

Another thing that cooks the coils and burns the little "spring thingy" off of the bottom is leaving the ignition switch on for any length of time when the engine is not turning over (being cranked or running).

Only way I can see that happening is if you have a short to ground some where in the dist.
