I took the tranny cover off to replace the starter switch. I put the cover back on without a gasket (one is on order)to move the tractor. I can't shift into all gears and it is in gear with the shift moving bach and forth in the neutral position. When I put it in third - the only gear I can get into - and I let out the clutch it does not move and strains the engine and will stall if I don't depress the clutch again. Is the lack of a gasket doing this or something else? Thank you in advance for your help. Grandpa Clyde

Naw, you don't have the shifter forks in their respective places, and/ or you have the tranny in one gear, which you haven't noticed, and when you put the top cover on, you could have put another gear in mesh too, which would cause lock-up! by: Rustyj
