I have seened where a 1939 9N is gray in one picture and then you see other pictures and the engine block is red, what differates these two from each other, or what serial numbers should I be looking for, any response would be appreciated

David - The "Redbelly" 8N tractors were a pretty good improvement on the earlier 9N/2N series with better hydraulics, steering, gearing, power, etc. As FDBYRD states, there are many sellers that painted the older solid "Battleship" grey N Series tractors to fool the unsuspecting buyers that it was the newer Redbelly 8Ns.

Also, there are many previous owners that just like the Red/light grey color scheme better and selected that when they re-painted. This does not change the operation or designation of the tractors - just color preference.

If it was mine, I would restore it to the original colors.

Good luck,
Dan

DAVID, ALL 9N & 2N TRACTORS CAME ALL GRAY.THE RED UNDER SIDE WAS ONLY ON THE 8N.
THE RED WAS ADDED LATER TO A LOT OF 9N &2N"S TO MAKE THEM LOOK NEWER.
