Had overhauled. Now have what seems to be rear main leak. Replaced seal 3 times now. None appeared to be bad. But when we start using the tractor to work this leak comes back. Any ideas.

Make sure your crankcase ventilation is fully operational. Clean the oil filler cap filter and the filter on the side of your valve cover under the little cup. If these are clogged, the internal pressure will build and FORCE oil out any seams it can.

Also, if you used rope seals, it take awhile to swell up and seal good. They have a new improved neoprene (rubber) seal that works very well if you have full access to the upper and lower seal area (crank removed).

Good luck,
Dan

The neoprene seal is sold as a two piece seal, and can be installed with the crankshaft in place easier than the rope style.

Did you replace the keystone shaped seals on the side of the main cap? Is there a wear groove in your crankshaft?
