2002 Onan engine Modle# P220GI OHV-2252-A After warmup - Engine backfires thru carburator when accelerating. It generally runs okay after reaching run speed & when slowed to idle speed, but starts backfiring again when speed is increased to run rpm. Engine only has 50 hours run time. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks to msh for the responce to my problem with the Onan engine . The brake fluid did help the situation and I was able to get through the power outage in my area caused by hurricane Katrina. The longer I ran the unit the better it got. My hats off to you.

Thanks George

It could be a sticky valve.I would run about a half cup of brake fluid through the carburetor with the engine running wide open.Take the air filter off and slowly pour the brake fluid down the carburetor.
