Hello Dianna,

Well it's been a LONG time but if I remember correctly, the coupler on the back of the engine that you are referring to is held in with a set screw set into the crankshaft coming out of the engine. Most likely it's been on there for a long time and will need to be soaked in penetrating oil or something. Once the set screw is removed then you should be able to remove the coupler with the universal joint on it from the engine. If it still won't slide off, you may need to get a few pry bars or something in there to slide it off. Prior to hooking it back up I would ensure that it was clean and slid on easy. Also would put some "never-sieze" or an equivelant lubricant on the shaft in order to make removing it (if required) after this a little easier.

Jim

Hello Donna,
Sorry, but due to the fact I have been in the military for the last (going on) 20 years with two more to go (leaving for Korea next Tuesday for a one year tour). I haven't been chasing down too many parts or looking for the best supplier or prices for them. You may want to check on the internet. There are web sites that deal with numerous different equipment and parts. Another place to check for a governor and/or parts to repair yours is at your nearest parts store, or a NAPA Auto Parts Store. Back home, there is a parts store (locally owned and not affiliated with a large chain) in a small town close to where the farm is. It always amazes me what they happen to have in stock or able to get for me. Another place that may be of help is a rental company. They may not have the parts, but most likely will know who does. Your New Holland Dealer also should be able to find the parts for a Wisconsin engine for you. A lot of the older New Holland equipment used Wisconsin engines on them. In the mid 80's when I was working for a New Holland Company Store just prior to going to AF basic training; one of the last jobs I did was to replace a govenor on a Wisconsin engine that was on a 1469 self-propelled haybine.

Are you sure that the govenor is in need of replacement? Most of the time you can replace the part(s) that are bad on a govenor. Would have done this on the haybine except it was eaten up too bad and the only thing that might've been considered salvageable was the housing and it was chewed up to.

Hope this is of some help, and good luck with your project.

Jim

OOPS, Sorry about that Diana in reply to CRUSADER, 08-30-2005 08:02:50
Hello Diana,

I apologize about your name. I guess it's still a little early for me, and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet. LOL, I know my eyesight is getting bad (haven't passed an eye chart test in many years) but I usually don't miss something like that.

Jim

Have you checked on ebay? Just type in Wisconsin engine and a lot of parts come up for sale, there is one company that sells a lot of new and used parts,if it is not listed they probably have it,I think his name is Rock Creek or something like that ,I have bought parts from them and had good luck.
