My dad is trying to restore a Ford 6000 Commander and needs some information on the correct paint numbers as well as where he can get the correct decals and seat. If anyone has any information on the above, I would really appreciate a reply as he has had a hard time finding information on the Commander (as, if I am understanding him correctly, it was only made in 1965 and 1966).

Thank you!

Ford started producing the red and gray 6000 in 1961. In 1962, they painted it blue and gray. The commander 6000 appeared in 1965 and was built until 1969. I recently restored a Commander 6000. You can find the correct paint at your local New Holland dealer. You can't buy new decals. My decals were intact and I carefully removed them. I took them to a sign shop that makes vinyl stickers and they did an excellent job making mine. You can't buy a new original seat with the letters FORD on the backrest. However, you can email me and I will give you a website to buy an aftermarket seat. I can also email you pictures of my 6000 if you would like.

Not sure about the year, but I think the first 6000 came out in 1960.The first ones were red and gray. The later ones were painted blue and gray.Sounds like a Ford tractor book would be a great Christmas present for Dad.Go to Tractor Photos in the left hand column and type in Ford 6000.There are several pictures posted there.E mail me and I can give you some information that I can't post here.
