If you have to play in the crankshaft, is it better to replace the main bearings or can you get shims? This is a 1948 model B!
Thanks for your help
Ronny

What xragman told you was for end play of the cranshaft. The flywheel goes against a spacer. If the crank is loose in the bearings, they can be adjusted by taking out shims. you may want to read a service manual first for the correct procedure for this. Ron Mn.

greenmech,
This is for end play, but I don"t understand the fact there is no machined surface between the flywheel and the main bearing housing! I have a manual on it"s way!
Thanks again, Ron

The spacer is your machined surface. It also has a cork gasket as an oil seal. The spacer has an indentation to line up with the flywheel. Good luck. Ron Mn.

xragman, Thanks for your reply, just wondering how that could help when the flywheel nor the main bearing coner are not machined?
thanks again
Ron
