I HAVE NEVER BEEN ONE FOR GIMMICKS BUT A FRIEND OF MINE SENT ME AN ARTICLE ABOUT ADDING A SMALL AMOUNT OF ACETONE TO YOUR TANK FOR INCREASED GAS MILEAGE. THE ARTICLE IS RATHER LONG, BUT I READ IT AND MOST OF THE QUESTIONS I HAD IN MIND WERE ADDRESSED. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I TRIED IT AND MY MILEAGE WENT UP BY FOUR MPG.SOUND UNREAL? IT MADE A BELIEVER OUT OF ME. I HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS AND THE INCREASE IS STILL THERE.THE ARTICLE IS TOO LONG TO PRINT, BUT IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO READ IT, SEND ME AN E-MAIL ADDRESS AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO FOWARD IT TO YOU.

Show me an article using replicated data in a peer reviewed scientific journal and I will believe it, not a bunch of "testimonials" -- otherwise it is just another product produced by those trying to convince us that oil companies do not use it for fear it will put them out of business.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience with it. Two oz. to ten gallons of gas is very diluted. I don't see how it can cause a problem. I just put some in my car but have not been able to check the mileage yet as I live in Baytown, Tx. I'll have to wait out the storm. I'll post back when I know. James

I found a website dealing with this subject, I think I saved it, I'll look later. In the mean time, I know the article stated that the increase was highly dependent on what brand of gas you use, also that the acetone additive was not effective at all if your gasoline had ethanol in it. Curious to know what brand og gas you are using? And do you use E-10?

No acetone in my vehicles! Sounds like it would eventually degrade any plastics or rubber in the fuel system.

I CAN UNDERSTAND ANY APPREHENSION ABOUT TRYING IT. HAD I NOT READ THE TEST RESULTS THAT THE ARTICLE MENTIONED, I WOULD PROBABLY NOT HAVE TRIED IT EITHER.I CHECKED MY MILEAGE AGAIN TODAY AFTER DOING A LOT OF AROUND TOWN DRIVING. NORMALY I GET ABOUT 8 MPG. TODAY 12.1 MPG.THERE IS ONE SMALL TEST I INTEND TO RUN. I AM GOING TO DRAIN MY LAWN MOWER, PUT IN ABOUT FOUR OZ. OF GAS, AND RUN IT DRY. I,M THEN GOING TO DO THE SAME AND ADD THE CORRECT RATIO OF ACETONE BASED ON 2O Z PER TEN GAL. OF GAS AND SEE IF IT RUNS LONGER. THIS WILL BE A VERY SIMPLE WAY TO RUN THE TEST. IN THE MEANTIME I,M CONTINUING TO ADD IT TOO MY TANK. I,M CONVINCED IT WORKS.
