I have a 340 farmall, runs good except under load (mower hits thick grass) seems like governor not working. Any ideas on trouble shooting?

make sure that the yoke and pin is not frozen to the governor arm if not with engin dead unhook rod from carb and pull throttle wide open see is rod is 1/2 a hole short if the rod pulls to open the carb or 1/2 long if it pushes the carb lever to open the carb wide open, if not make adjustments , engin running place in road gear engin wide open throttle look down at the carb linkage and barley slip the clutch and wach the the govenor move, it should work if it's right

Lonzo, thanks for the info. I found out that after I replaced points/condenser, some idiot must have sneaked in there and reversed the firing order! Sure ran good though, until put under load... My problem ended up being the stem that holds the points contact spring. It was loose and causing un-even firing. If anyone has this problem the solution is to place a small deep socket over the brass stem, lay it on the edge of a vice and give it a whack. This crimped the stem tight to the metal base. Runs like a charm now. Thanks B
