All the signs indicated blown headgasket (water in oil, oil out exaust, bubbles in radiator). I've got the parts, have pressure washed the crud, removed valve-cover, valve train, head nuts, and front water port bolts. Now, there is a rubber gasket on rear of head, for water port (?) to/from pony. It has a tab on it, and *looks* to be some type of slide fit (fits into head recess? but slides against pony) with head and other bolted-on castings pushing it tight to pony. Is this so ?
If so, can I just ease the head off or do I have to unbolt pony from engine and lean it back to clear this water port ???

I haven't yet attempted to pull the head up, and am hoping I don't have to monkey with the pony.

Any ideas greatly (!) appreciated.
