My 8n tractor runs fine and then stalls. It may run for 10 mins up to 1 hour then just quits. Will start again within seconds. Seems to be getting fuel. I have replaced gas tank, fuel lines, and carb , new cap for gas tank is not vented but don't think thats the problem it stalls even if cap is loosened.I have also replaced points plugs condenser and coil. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

My problem with my TO30 was the fuel line laying against the engine..major vapor lock..

Some of my experiences. I had that fine rust 'flour' that was coating the in-line fuel filter. Shows up in sediment bowl. Took a few filters to finally get rid of flour. ( This is after flushing tank, also.) Is The vent hole plugged? Unscrew gas cap and listen for a hissing noise. My buddy had this vent hole plugged by a spider as he was flying in his 2 seat private plane. Caused quite a stir at the local airport when he called in his engine had stalled. He got it landed by pulling out choke lever rpeated times! Then I had a fuzz ball develope in the fuel line. Did not ever find out where it came from, but removed it and ran fine. Another friend bought a southern tractor, had the same problem of no gas getting through- he found cotton fibers blocking up the fuel line. For what these are worth-good luck. But check if there is fire with plug tester, and if so, then look for fuel starvation. Dad's old rule of; spark plus fuel causes fire still stands.

My father had exactly the same problem with his 2n, sealed the gas tank, spent a couple hundred on redoing the mag, new coil and resistor, rewired, countless hours and still did it. One day it started to do it and I reached for the key to restart it before it had completely died and “BINGO”, it was the damn key switch the whole time. If yours does it again try wiggling the key as it is dieing and see if that solves the problem. $1500.00 and a lot of time to end up being a $60.00 switch. Well at least he has another restored tractor, and one hell on a story to go with it.

Happy- was your new replacement gas tank vented? I've read some don't come with the little hole in the top.

Sounds like you got a read head scratcher there. My MF 274 had the exact same problem but I had gunk clogging the valve at the bottom of the fuel tank where the line goes out and than a screen where the line goes into my fuel pump was clogged. Cleaned those out and she runs fine now. My Case 450 did the same thing and it was one tiny pebble that got lodged in the valve under the fuel tank as well. Just my story.
