I have a 1941 jd (B) it has two different rods in it, one is b1770r and is babbited, the other one has the # ground off of it and is a insert type, the one with the babbit is bad and I would like to replace it with another insert type. does anyone know what it might be out of ,or even give me a #. THANKS, JOHN

I think a automotive machine shop can convert your babbit rod to accept the insert bearing.

According to my I&T Manual, late model "B"s" had the insert type bearings. How late, I do not not know. Look up the rods/bearings for a 1950 model or so. Should be correct.
