Hey guys, I about to experiment with electrolysis. Has anybody tried other products besides soda and lye. I'm having a hard time finding washing soda. Thanks for any info.

I've used electrolysis for several years to restore vintage motorcycle fuel tanks, with great success.

The photo shows the basic tools and materials I typically use, which could be adapted to any situation (which I've also done). If you'd like a bit more detail on the specifics of the technique, don't hesistate to email me.

You can find Sodium Carbonate at Wal Mart in the pool section, it is called "PH PLUS" for swiming pools. Safeway has it as "Arm & Hammer"...HTH

I use Clorox Oxi-Magic for my solution. The active ingredient is Sodium Carbonate, which is the same stuff as washing soda. Read the labels on a few different cleaners and I"ll bet you"ll find one that has Sodium Carbonate as the main ingredient. They should work fine, though I"d stick with ones that don"t have a lot of added fragance, etc., unless of course you want your metal both clean and lemony fresh!

I have used ordinary table salt. Add to water until charger reaches it's capacity.

Try the laundry soap section of most stores. I think it's by Arm & Hammer.
