I am using a Uni 701 with a Gehl 83 chopper married to the front to chop pine trees. Everything was working well until the transmission jammed in 2nd gear.
Any suggestions for freeing it up? I have never had one of these apart. The linkage seems to be free, the problem is apparently internal.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'll give you a generic answer- not specific to your machine. It is jammed in gear....linkage is free.....Likely the shift lever is disengaged from the shifter forks while the tranny is in one gear. You can still drive it forward- it is not stuck in two gears. Fix? where the shift lever enters the shift 'tower'- look for a snap ring, remove that, maybe a washer under that..... pull the shift lever up and out. Flashlight time- look into the tranny, use long lever to align the several shifter forks....reinstall shifter and parts. Bottom of shifter is likely to be worn- will have same problem soon. Fix shifter and forks.
