I am in the middle of restoring 981 Ford, which is a 1957 model. It appear as if the paint on the engine and drive train is the reddish orange color, but the original paint on the grill hood center, and instument cluster was orignally red. Does anyone have any comment on this?

You've got the right places listed for the red paint. The sheet metal should be the same shade of red (Ford red... also heard it called vermillion) as the motor/trans/axles. I've seen that difference too... might be that it oxidizes differently on sheet metal than cast iron.
