I am trying to repair a Long 460(apr. 1967-69). It has had remote hydraulics added onto it. The hydraulic system that operates the front bucket works perfectly, but the 3-point lift and remote hydraulics dont work. With the remote's switched off, the lift will come up but very slowly and jerks. With the remote's switched on, the lift wont raise at all. The filter has been replaced along with a fluid change and a new pressure relief valve. The only thing i can think of is that the pump wont pump a large enough volume to operate both systems, or there is a valve stuck open. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I will try to post again.

My book says 460 was made 1977-91.

Loader pump, as I understand it, operates at the back next to the PTO. PTO has to be turning for pump to operate. Loader has its own oil tank and is seperate from tractor hydraulics.

Changing the fluid and filter is good. If the filter is the steel mesh type, the tractor is an earlier model. Later ones use a throw away type.

There are copper crush washers in the hyd. system that need replacing sometimes. Its been a while since I changed mine and I would probably would confuse you if I tried to give directions, so you need to talk to a Long dealer. If one is not near you, call Long(now Farmtrac) in Tarboro,NC. Telephone number on advertising literature is 1 877 639 5194. Ask for a service rep.
Worst case is that the hydraulic control under the seat may need replacing for big bucks. The Long is a Fiat design, some Olivers and Whites were Fiats, maybe you could fing an old Oliver dealer. Good luck.

Is this a form of a Fiat? Also are you talking about the system for the loader and one for the tractor? What do you mean when you say the remotes and three point are switched on?

I dont own the tractor. It is my Grandfathers. The tractor actually has 2 separate hydraulic systems on it. The pump that operates the loader bucket on the front is located at the rear of the tractor. It also has had remote hydraulics plumbed into the other pump which is mounted to the engine and driven by the timing gears. The front pump operates the rear 3-point lift, as well as the remote hydraulics. There is a selector in which you can select to operate just the 3-point lift, or operate the remote hydraulics along with the lift. When you flip it one way, you operate just the rear lift itself. In this position, the lift will raise but very slowly and it jerks. With the selector in the other position(to work the lift as well as the remote hydraulics), the lift wont work at all. We have replaced the filter, changed the fluid, and replaced the pressure relief valve thinking that it may be stuck open not allowing the pump to build pressure, But nothing changed. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
