I have a Smith 160 air compressor with a Ford V8 industrial engine. Can anyone help me ID the engine in this unit. The following info is stamped on the valve cover tag.
serial #18269F-5-TK
model #LSG-8751-6005-A
special options #6055
model code-HZA/6055/6BA

The 6005 means 'Engine with flywheel and flywheel housing". But then the 'A' means 'no flywheel housing'.
The options code is special. It probably was assigned as a package specific to Smith.

That is a the very popular 7.5Liter (460 CID) industrial engine. 173 HP @ 2800 RPM on Gasoline.

The 6005-A refers to the flywheel housing and stuff like that. I think that I have a list of some of the codes. If you want them, let me know. Any Ford industrial distributor should be able to help you with any parts you need.
