I have an older skid steer with a Wisconsin vg4d engine. I need to time it but there are no marks on it to determine where top dead center is. Any advice?

When I look at the flywheel, I am able to see a D and a C stamped on it. But the housing has no marks at all. Thanks for telling me about where to look on the flywheel. Any suggestions where the mark would be on the housing?

The marks should be lines lightly marked into the flywheel housing tin right next to the big opening where you see the flywheel, IIRC, to the left of the vertical centerline of the engine, aligned with the centerline of the LH cylinder bores, as viewed from the flywheel end.

If you can't see them, I will try to take a look at a VG4D I have stored in an old shed, and verify this. Also, I have some old manuals, if I can find them. I could scan a drawing, and email it to you.

Can you help with tune up specs. for a VG4D engine?
I need point gap; timing order, cylinder order, and timing info. (How many degrees Befor or after the mark and what location of mark?)

Thank You for any advice

The marks are on one flywheel vane, and on the steel flywheel housing.
