I have a wisconsin TF engine, but the mag that I got with it was for a 4 cylinder model. DOes anyone have or know where I can get the correct mag?

You need to figure out if it is one that fires both cylinders on compression or not. Wico mag applications manual shows some of both engines were simultaneous fire and FM mag manual does not show that ?? All of the TE,TF,TH, & THD engines are suppose to use a mag with a coil with dual output to cap for simultaneous fire. No dist rotor needed in that mag. A Wico XH-1961 or XH-2531 or Fairbanks Morse FM-J1-2B7 or FM-X1-2B7 are all simultaneous fire mags for those engines. So if both cylinders come up on compression at same time those are the ones you need. Will also need correct drive gear for it. I may have some of those mags if you can't fine one. If it doesn't fire both cylinders on compression like a TJD engine you would use a 2 cyld. Wico XH-1806 or Fairbanks Morse FM-J2B7E or FM-X2B7E. Again you will need correct drive gear.

A 4 clinder mag WILL NOT work on a TE, TF,TH,or THD. These engines need a mag that fire both plugs at the same time. One cylinder is on the firing stroke the other is on the exhaust stroke.

The only difference between the 4 cylinder and 2 cylinder version of the Lucas Mag that fits the TF/THD and VH4D was the rear cover and the cam that opens and closes the points. The reason the Fairbanks Morse and Wico mags fired about TDC on both strokes was that they had the equivalent of 2 coils wound on a common core and no distributor rotor. The engine does not require a spark at the top of the exhaust stroke. Note also the distributor on the 6 or 12 volt ignition systems only fires about TDC on the compression stroke.

The distributor you are speaking of may be from a TJD Wisconsin and yes they only fire onespark plug at a time because the pistons come to TDC 180 degrees apart unlike the other 2 cylinders Wisconsin where the pistons travel together.
