I was looking at the flywheel on an E and I don't understand how the key holds the flywheel in place or how it would be removed. I am sure someone can exsplain it to me.

Hi. The flywheels can be pulled rather easy beleive it or not. Yes it does have a tapered key. So what you have to do is put a spacer in the offset of the crank to fill the space and create a straight line for pressure so the crank won't snap. I like to use a good heavy bolt and nut. The bolt has to be about a 1/4" shorter than the opening, put the nut on the bolt so that the nut is flush with the end of the bolt. Then put it in the space and unscrew the nut untill it is tight, but not too tight. Then you put it in a press and press the flywheel ON about 1/4-3/8". Pull the tapered key out and the flywheel will come off with hand pressure. It's that simple. I hope I didn't make it sound harder than it is.

It has a tapered key that is driven in.

Hopefully you are just curious and don't have to actually pull one off. Speaking from experience, they break very easily. I am looking for a new one myself.
