I have a 4 HP Fairbanks-Morse that I've been in the process of restoring. It is complete except for the fuel mixer (carburetor), and the connecting-rod cap.

What are my chances of finding these items, and what would be a fair price?

Also, what is this engine worth in it's present condition, dismantled, cleaned, unrestored?

Thanks for any info.

Ed

Hi ex, both your questions depend largely upon which F/M model you have. If it is a plain-jane model Z, the parts should be easy to find and cheap, as is the rest of the engine whether it is in pieces or restored, they are not a high-dollar engine. Makes some difference if it still has a magneto, if so equipped. I would say $400 MAX if it is a good runner and you really wanted one. If it is a T or an N then it is just the opposite, the parts will be harder to find and more expensive, and the engine itself will be worth a lot more.
