not trying to be a wise ss. but just wanted to inform you that i found the problem with my model 23 briggs engine, it was not the coil as you advised me, new coil and engine still ran the same. i finally discovered the problem. the float needle valve in the carburator was sticking, starving the engine on fuel.

I just mention the coil because the coil is a known problem. Because of the expence of a coil you need to check all other possibilities first.

kent, i found a after market coil for just under $46.00 including shipping, it had the B&S part number on it also. i did need the coil for another engine i had. to get it running again.
