I have a VG4D off an old 1960's swather that has sat for 30+ years. It was seized. Now apart on the bench. The cylinder jugs are both pitted badly. The rest of the engine is good. Are there any good used jugs available? Could the old ones be machined and sleeved? Don't want to soak a whole bunch of money into the engine. Going to use it on a large grain auger with a hydraulic mover so the HP would be nice. It is a 6V system. Can it be economically converted to 12V? Thanks for your input.

Kevin

I think sleeving the jugs will be your cheapest way to go. You could overbore but pistons are out of site. Check with a automotive machine shop on the cost of sleeving your jug. It is a little cheaper per jug when all four are done than only one. I resently had a Kohler K-341 one cylinder sleeved. With cleaning the block and grinding both valve the bill was $121.00.
