I have inherited a Mc cormic Deering hit & miss engine that has been restored . It is a type LB 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hp. it has compression & spark I didn't want to put gas in it & start it as I know little about this type of motor. it's on a cart with steel wheels & is painted up real nice with nice decals theres a sticker on the cart that says 1948 I guess it's ther year . It also has a folding crank on the flywheel & a fat belt pulley on the other side . What is it's worth & how do I start it ? any help would be much appreciated . Dennis Shaw Dousman Wis.

Dennis, I am working on restoring an IHC “LB” right now. I found the owner’s manual free online at http://www.oldengine.org/members/allen/techindex.html . Look in the Engine Manual Section in the center column, about 2/3 down. All you need to know about timing, starting, & servicing is in the manual. It also has good parts diagrams and lists. Parts can be found at Hit & Miss Enterprises at www.hitnmiss.com
