I took my Gladden BB 3HP apart (with a hammer and chisel) without checking for timing marks since i didnt expect to put it back together, now i am ready and i dont know the timing. There is no visible marks on the cam gear, but one the crank gear there are two "w"s with a circle around them, one on a tooth beside one and other, located a few degrees behind the crak pin and there are two center punch marks one the rear counter weight also, any help is appreciated.

I am assuming this is a 4 cycle engine.

A general rule of thumb for most engines is that the inlet and exhaust valves will overlap on Top dead center at the end of the exhaust stroke and beginning of the inlet stroke. Thus if you assemble the timing gears so that as the inlet opens and the exhaust closes as the crank goes over TDC you will have a good valve timing.

If there are no other posts with more detail this may be of help.

Good luck
