The problem I have it this FMXD1B7u magneto.
The tractor has been sitting sheltered for many years and is in good condition. However the sparks is weak and almost non existant. I've filed the points and replaced the condenser.
The snap is strong.
Any ideas? short of total replacement?

Thanks in advance for any advice from anyone
Lou

Yes you could replace the coil. I would set it up so you could spin it with a drill, have the wires going to sparkplugs.Your mag will probably quit sparking or only spark sometimes. You will have to replace the coil.

Thanks for the reply
I suddenly remembered what I used to do to old lawn mowers that had set out in the rain and wouldn't start.

So I took the magneto back off and in bright sunlight looked inside at the rotor
Sure enough it was rusty. I wedged some emery cloth down in there and twisted the rotor over the rust until it shone clean and bright.
Put the magneto back on and WALLA. Fired up second pull.
