Hey guys, Can anyone point me in the direction of a site on Champion gas engines and how many were possibly made. I came across one the other day, it is a 9 hp engine. Serial number 156326. Says it was made for Lininger Impl Company out of Omaha Nebr. Thanks, Mike

Search for the Hercules web site. The majority of the Champions were Hercules, there was a nine horse that changed hands here in NE this spring, it was a T/G. Do you have a tag on the top of the hopper near the front, Model "E" maybe? I don't know if you will be able to find any producton numbers, a good friend has researched them quit a bit and has very little, he owns they only known 12hp. model. I have a picture of our old main street and one of the stores is Lininger, they were a pretty big outfit. Oddly enough, I met Mr. Liningers grandson last weekend. The only non-Herc. Champion I have actually seen was an older Foos. Either way there is not very many of them. Check out enginads.com and go to the Smokstak.

First of all thanks for the information. No I found this one in the weeds on a place that is cleaning up old tractors etc. Its on a cart but not an original, its an Ecomomy cart I think. The tag on the hooper which is barely hanging on says 9EK behind the horse power letters. Otherwise doesn't say a model number. Also 325 rpm. I am in Nebraska also. Interesting to find an old hulk like this.

Cool, it is a 9hp. model E, the K means Kerosene burner, so it is throttle governed. Keep in mind that all but the earliest Economy engines were also Hercules built, so Hercules, Champion, and Economy carts are all the same thing. Half-base engines used a straight-frame cart, and full-base models used a drop-frame cart. Is it at Billy's place? It sounds a lot like the same one, but I thought it had left already. If it is for sale you should get on it, or you could always let me have a shot at it! If you were at Clay Center last week the 12hp. Hercules there was a Champion.

Nope, I don"t know a billy. This guy had called me on an ad I had running about old tractors. So I looked at everything he had on the place. Just was curious since it was manufactured in Nebraska. Kind of a neat piece, not sure if I will get it or not yet. I will let you know if not. Thanks for your help.
