A friend of mine was thinking about selling two engines; a 3hp M made in 1920 in about 85% original condition and a 40's model LB, also a 3hp and about 80% original condition.

What are they worth?

Thanks to all who reply.

Here is a picture of those motors.. in reply to mike in new mexico, 09-23-2007 16:32:29

Both of them run great. I had a little trouble with the M when I had the fuel adjusted wrong and it died on me after running kerosene and had to crank on it for 10 minutes with gas so it would start again but no troubles after I got it figured out.

Thanks again, Mike.

Thanks for the information. He priced them to me at $300 for the M and $100 for the LB. The M is a great big motor that uses an ignitor instead of a spark plug. I don't know how much it weighs. He was using both of them up until recently to turn generators and decided that he would no longer use them. Both have the original decals and they still have the original skids. The M skids are made out of wood and says 'Runs on Kerosene'.

Thanks again, Mike.

Don't know about the M, but the LB must be a 3-5 horse and I've paid from $200 in non-running condition to $500 in running condition needing paint.

In the right place at the right time, I've heard of a 3-5 LB going for $750... but I don't follow stationary engines as close as Farmall tractors...
