Hi,
Does anyone know if IHC made a longer head to suit the LB 3 to 5 hp engines fitted with the gasoline/kerosene head?I purchased a valve cover that came off a 3/5 hp lb with a gas carbie/head.The valve cover fits my head correctly except it is 1 inch short where the plug wire comes through and doesnot meet the engine block. It appears that my head may be longer in an attempt to hold more heat to vaporise the low grade fuel.
My engine number is LBB30224.
The head lenth from the machined face to the head gasket is 3 3/4 inch.
The valve cover is 6 1/4 wide,5 3/4 long and where it is cut out and fits on the front of the head face to the end at the block is 2 3/4 inch.My head is 1 inch longer.
Anyone with measurements or suggestions?
Thankyou
Paul

Thankyou Eddie M for the information.
That means my head is 1 1/8 longer, the reason why the valve cover wouldnt fit.Does anyone know if IHC made any other changes in the LBB engine.I also purchased a hopper cover lid which wouldnt fit.Even the one from my LA wouldnt fit.By the look of the casting it was never cleaned up to have one fitted. It now fits after a bit of work with a die grinder
