Well it is the honda look alike 5 hp and it runs a trash pump, pumping water out of the pond to water the sprigs on the trailer and has been running fine and one night a cow knocked it over and it will not start. Has gas and oil in it,has a good spark, cleaned out the carburator and it has hit every now and then and has backfired some,I checked the valves and they seem to be working, has compression,is there some trick to adjusting the valves, maybe the jar of tipping over got them out of place? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My money is on an in-tank fuel filter becoming plugged or if it doesn't have one then the gas line and carb are now sucking crud. When it tipped it probably stirred up that layer that normally sits on the bottom of most people's gas tanks.

Check your muffler has not clogged with oil. John.

Tipping it over shouldn't have affected the valves at all.If it layed over for awhile, possibly oil seeped up past the rings and got enough in the cylinder to foul it,but that doesn't really seem very likely. Are there any wires that might have gotten knocked off or broken, possibly shorting? If it isn't that, the next place I would look is in the carb.
