Please help me to clean out the water tank on my engine without having to pull the sleeve. It is an I/H "M". 1 1/2 H. with a rubber ring around the sleeve, so I don't want to pull it. It has some used oil poured in, and rotted maple tree crap...thick black gunk. Lots of lime, too. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I want to get this back together & hear it run!

O.K. guys, you gave me the poop on how I can get out the scale, thanks! But what do you suggest I use to get the gummed used oil out without harming the rubber seals? Is there any solvent in particular I DON'T want in there?

Justice Brothers Engine Degreaser works good and will not hurt the rubber seals.

Where are you located? I can get you the name of the distributor in your area, or you can go directly to the company at justicebrothers.com for the name of the closest distributor. Justice Brothers is not distributed through the national chains; therefore, I cannot tell you that it is availiable at store X. I am a distributor in Texas and could ship it if you cannot find it locally.

A friend also restores engines like that and worse. He suggested muratic acid, small amount of phosphoric acid in the hopper, let it set awhile, then dump out and check. If you are scared of trying something that strong, try vineger straight and let it set for a while. It works in coffee pots
